Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID)

MiFID legal framework supports the emergence of a single, transparent financial market within the EU. Through our Valordata Feed (VDF) you can be assured that the comprehensive MiFID data offered mirrors the current regulatory requirements. Indeed, our regulatory and product experts are involved in MiFID working groups and actively participate in industry bodies such as ANNA (Association of National Numbering Agencies), FISD (Financial Information Services Division of the Software and Information Industry Association) and various ISO working groups.

On 30 April 2004 the European Parliament and Council of the European Union adopted the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). The directive was enacted into national law in the 30 member states of the European Economic Area (EEA) plus Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway. Throughout Europe, MiFID affects many members of the financial community, i.e. financial advisers who handle client money, or trade with customers in other EU countries. MiFID does not directly affect non-EEA member countries like Switzerland and the United States. Nonetheless, both countries had to carefully analyze the possible implications for their financial institutions.
